Using metaphor to describe, actualize and represent some problem is an excellent way to do your change work at an abstracted or higher logical level than the problem space. Einstein said something equivalent to 'the same level of thinking that created a problem will not solve the problem'. This is why a metaphor or problem abstraction can produce such excellent and lasting results in terms of problem resolution.
